Latest news from Alan:
I have
some really great news that I would like to share with everyone...
It has just been
announced that I have been promoted
to the rank of
Associate Professor with tenure at
the University of Southern California.
This is a tremendous
honor and achievment for me, and I will continue to try to work
with my students and colleagues to promote our art in a way that
nutures respect. This is our culture, and it must be preserved
without compromise.

Greetings,
and welcome to my website! I am excited to share my musical journey
with you. Here you can find a discography, bio, a photo gallery
as well as promotional photos, video clips and links to other
websites. I have included some tasty soundbytes of some of the
tracks of my CD's for you to check out. I hope you enjoy the ride....
My teaching commitment at the
University of Southern California has deepened, as I have been
appointed the position of Associate Professor of Jazz Studies.
I am involved in private piano instruction as well as heading
the undergraduate Jazz Improvisation and Jazz Styles and Analysis
classes. I am thrilled to be a part of the USC family. There are
many wonderfully inspired and dedicated professors as well as
students at this University.
Teaching
has been a very rewarding experience for me. I have been
blessed
throughout
my life with
great teachers…Jaki
Byard, George Russell, David Baker, Thad Jones…so it
is time for me to pass on what I have been given.
That’s
it for now. I will update this page periodically to keep things
current. In the meantime, have a look around, and enjoy the music.
